🫏 3D Donkey Squish Pad Application Instructions

Developed for donkeys. Proven in the field. Trusted by professionals.

Key Notes

  • These pads are standalone.
  • Can be applied over abscess tracts or resected areas.
  • Safe to combine with Artimud, manuka honey, or poultice materials—the pad holds it all in securely.
  • Designed to relieve pressure, encourage circulation, and stimulate healing.

1. Customize the Pad & Fit

  • Trim the cuff of the pad at the toe and/or heel bulbs before application, depending on the hoof shape and pathology.
  • This customization allows for a proper fit.

2. Trim & Prep the Hoof

  • Perform a balanced trim to provide a flat, stable base.
  • Clean the hoof thoroughly, especially the sole and frog. A wire brush is a must—some use a torch to help sanitize and dry the hoof.
  • Rasp the hoof wall where glue will be applied to create better adhesion.
  • Depending on your environment, you may also want to use a degreaser like isopropyl alcohol on the sole and wall. Let it dry completely and ensure it’s dust-free before glueing.
  • Apply a thin layer of Artimud (or another antimicrobial clay) into the collateral grooves and frog if needed.
  • If the hoof has abscess tracks or resections, this is the time to pack them with Artimud, manuka honey, or another anti-microbial poultice.

3. Apply Adhesive

  • Apply cyanoacrylate (super glue) to the entire solar surface and the ground-bearing edge of the hoof wall.
  • Avoid glue on the frog, collateral grooves and central sulcus.

4. Place the Pad

  • Carefully position the Squish Pad on the hoof.
  • Immediately set the hoof down on a clean, dry surface to allow the pad to conform naturally.

5. Seal the Cuff

  • With the hoof on the ground, pull back the cuff of the pad and fill around the perimeter with 3d glue to fully seal the edges.

  • This creates a secure bond that holds everything in place.

6. Wrap to Set

  • Lift the hoof and wrap plastic tightly around the pad and hoof, compressing it while the glue cures.
  • Set the hoof back down and allow it to cure—usually 5-10 minutes, depending on conditions.

7. Final Finish

  • Once cured, remove the wrap.
  • Optional: Rasp or grind away any excess glue to create a clean, finished aesthetic.

Why the MoreAid Donkey Squish Pad is a Game-Changer for Laminitis

The MoreAid Donkey Squish Pad is a new type of clog—but with cutting-edge 3D-printed technology designed specifically for donkeys. This innovative therapeutic pad only became available in the U.S. this year, bringing the latest in hoof care innovation to donkeys suffering from laminitis, hoof sensitivity, and sole pain.

Why It Works & How It Helps

1. Full Sole Support & Pain Relief
✔ Unlike traditional hoof treatments that focus on the hoof wall, the Squish Pad supports the entire sole, frog, and bars—reducing pressure on inflamed laminae.
✔ This even distribution reduces pain immediately, making movement more comfortable.

2. Built-in Shock Absorption
✔ The soft-yet-resilient 3D-printed material compresses and rebounds, absorbing impact with every step.
✔ This protects fragile hooves and prevents further trauma while allowing healing to occur.

3. Encourages Correct Weight Distribution
✔ Many laminitic donkeys shift weight to their heels or avoid moving altogether due to pain.
✔ The Squish Pad gently shifts pressure away from the painful toe area, promoting natural movement and better circulation—which speeds up recovery.

4. Glue-On or Cast Applications for Versatility
✔ Can be glued on or secured with a cast, allowing for customization based on the severity of the case.
No nails or hard shoes required, making it perfect for compromised or sensitive hooves.

5. Cutting-Edge 3D Printing Technology
✔ Designed with precision, the Squish Pad is the first-ever donkey-specific hoof support pad—a huge step forward in hoof care.
✔ It just arrived in the U.S. this year, bringing European innovation to donkey owners who need better options for laminitis and hoof rehab.

Why Choose the Donkey Squish Pad?

More comfort & faster relief than traditional methods
Prevents further damage by absorbing shock & supporting the hoof
Encourages movement & healing by improving circulation
Flexible & non-invasive—glue-on or cast, no nails needed
Proven technology, now available in the U.S.

This is the future of laminitis care for donkeys—and it’s finally here!

The Experts Behind the First-Ever 3D Printed Donkey Hoof Care Solutions

Derek Poupard (3D HoofCare) and Kelvin Lymer (The Shoeing Lab) are pioneers in hoof care innovation. Derek, a 2024 Hall of Fame farrier, specializes in 3D-printed hoof protection. Kelvin, Farrier of the Year 2024, has spent nearly 40 years advancing therapeutic shoeing and is a leader in 3D-printed hoof solutions at The Shoeing Lab.

When I, Megan Hensley, reached out for donkey-specific hoof care products, Derek Poupard and Kelvin Lymer didn’t stop at the Donkey Squish Pad.

They are able to develop other custom 3D-printed solutions for donkeys, including:

🔹 Sole Protection Pads – Provides hoof protection and support for thin soles and chronic hoof sensitivity.
🔹 Extensions for Foals – Designed to aid in proper hoof development and address early growth imbalances.
🔹 Angular Limb Deformity Extensions – Made to assist in realignment and stabilization for growing donkeys.
🔹 Ballerina Syndrome Supports – Designed for donkeys with tendon contracture, helping them achieve proper stance and movement after surgery.

Each product is custom-made for the specific needs of each donkey, ensuring effective support and correction.

Thanks to Derek and Kelvin for bringing precision and innovation to donkey hoof care.

Application Videos

Please note: More instructional videos are coming soon. These are brand-new products, and once I’ve applied them to donkeys, I’ll share my own videos. In the meantime, you can find some application videos on Facebook, showing them being used on horses.

If you apply them, please use #3DHoofCare on social media and feel free to tag me (Megan Hensley). Together, we can educate and share these products with donkey owners worldwide! 🌎

I have several hoof care workshops planned for 2025, and Squish Pad applications will be part of the education.

If you’re interested in attending or hosting a donkey hoof care clinic, please email me at [email protected].

In addition to using Squish Pads for hoof support, it is highly encouraged for donkey owners and rescues to become familiar with the Equine Cushing’s & Insulin Resistance  (ECIR) Group. Their latest research papers and best practices provide current, science-based information on laminitis management, emergency diet protocols, and metabolic health.

Staying informed with ECIR’s research ensures you are using the most effective strategies for preventing and managing laminitis.
